Picking Up My Kindle

I picked up my Kindle Fire for the first time in a long time. It had just been sitting there on the shelf gathering dust though I was still buying books for it. I kept telling myself I would get back to it and got sidetracked catching up on reading.

I will be the first to say that I prefer the physical copy over an e-book. This is very Rory Gilmore of me to say, but sometimes the smell of a book is the best part. Though I do not mind e-books and using an e-reader. In fact, almost everyone in my house owns a kindle. Though not always for reading books.

So I thought I would just talk about some of my favorite things about reading a book on a Kindle. I’ll try not to ramble too much either.

Space is one of the best things about owning a Kindle. I own a lot of books and it can get quite crazy when it comes to fitting them all where they are supposed to be. I had a moment where I decided that I didn’t need more then the built in shelf my dad made, so I got rid of the bookshelf I had owned for years. It would take me close to ten years before I got a new one. So the fact that they are just stored either on the Kindle or in the cloud library is amazing.

Another great thing is the price. On some books, there is a definite price cut on the e-book version, but not always. So I would always be on the look out either for a sale or just choosing what works well for you.

When you are actually reading the book, there are some great features to take notes. You can highlight a passage and you are not ruining the book in any way. You can take notes and place them exactly where you were talking about. So you don’t look at your notes and then try to remember what you were talking about and where.

Of course, there are always downsides to any thing. One of my pet peeves is the fact that I’m trying to do anything else on the page and it just decides to go to the next one. I could literally be just trying to bookmark my spot and it already jumps there.

I have just really been enjoying using my Kindle Fire (or Fire. Honestly I’m always going to call it a Kindle. I’ve owned one for way too long not too). I have a couple of books that I bought that I can’t wait to read and see what happens.
